There was no joy again this afternoon – and no stories of 
unlucky near misses either !
The 
ground at Fairyhouse was absolutely desperate, which resulted in the races 
becoming virtual lotteries – and unfortunately, we hadn’t picked any of the 
right numbers !
Forge Meadow and Lets Dance were the first tips to run – 
and in fairness, they both ran reasonably well.
Forge Meadow led to the straight – but then stopped as if 
shot: whilst Lets Dance travelled nicely, just behind the leaders, but couldn’t 
find anything when asked in the straight.
The 
next tips to run were in the Irish National – but all 3 selections were undone 
by jumping errors.
Thunder and Roses was in the front rank when falling just 
before half way: whilst Moulin a Vent unshipped his rider at the same 
fence.
Dounikos looked like he was beginning to struggle, when 
he made a mistake a few fences later –and he was soon pulled up.
It 
was attritional stuff – almost ending up a game of last man standing…
The 
final tip to run, was Rogue Angel.
He 
was very well supported in the market – which gave me cause for 
optimism.
He 
also got into a nice rhythm at the head of affairs, and with 5 fences to jump, 
looked sure to be involved in the finish.
However, he then hit a metaphoric wall – and was beaten 
in a few strides !
The 
was no joy for the Mentions either, with them all struggling to cope with the 
ground.
To 
be honest, it was desperate stuff – and not the kind of racing that we should be 
betting on (as an ability to handle conditions, plus luck in running, were the 
only things that mattered).
They 
are supposed to be racing at the track again tomorrow – and I will check out the 
declarations properly.
However, having witnessed events today, my inclination is 
to not get involved, regardless.
