There was no joy again this afternoon – and no stories of
unlucky near misses either !
The
ground at Fairyhouse was absolutely desperate, which resulted in the races
becoming virtual lotteries – and unfortunately, we hadn’t picked any of the
right numbers !
Forge Meadow and Lets Dance were the first tips to run –
and in fairness, they both ran reasonably well.
Forge Meadow led to the straight – but then stopped as if
shot: whilst Lets Dance travelled nicely, just behind the leaders, but couldn’t
find anything when asked in the straight.
The
next tips to run were in the Irish National – but all 3 selections were undone
by jumping errors.
Thunder and Roses was in the front rank when falling just
before half way: whilst Moulin a Vent unshipped his rider at the same
fence.
Dounikos looked like he was beginning to struggle, when
he made a mistake a few fences later –and he was soon pulled up.
It
was attritional stuff – almost ending up a game of last man standing…
The
final tip to run, was Rogue Angel.
He
was very well supported in the market – which gave me cause for
optimism.
He
also got into a nice rhythm at the head of affairs, and with 5 fences to jump,
looked sure to be involved in the finish.
However, he then hit a metaphoric wall – and was beaten
in a few strides !
The
was no joy for the Mentions either, with them all struggling to cope with the
ground.
To
be honest, it was desperate stuff – and not the kind of racing that we should be
betting on (as an ability to handle conditions, plus luck in running, were the
only things that mattered).
They
are supposed to be racing at the track again tomorrow – and I will check out the
declarations properly.
However, having witnessed events today, my inclination is
to not get involved, regardless.
I’ll
confirm for definite, later this evening…
TVB.
